UPPER STAGE
Sustainer
The upper stage carries a solid motor and sits below the nose cone and payload. After the booster separates, the sustainer ignites and continues the climb. On Karman-X1, it carried the vehicle to 10 km.

Two-stage solid rocket. 10 km.
A 4.3-metre, 26-kilogram rocket from OculloSpace, launched with Stellar Kinetics MCT from Etlaq Spaceport, Duqm, carrying an Orbit2Orbit payload. The booster lifted it off the rail, and the sustainer took it to 10 km. Flight data was received at the control centre.

Liftoff
AZAD “The Dreamer”, OculloSpace’s first experimental sounding rocket, lifts off from Etlaq Spaceport, Oman, on 1 October 2026, achieving an apogee altitude of 10 km.

The team
The team behind the Karman X1 mission, bringing together expertise and collaboration from Singapore, Oman and Australia.
THE FLIGHT
On Karman-X1, Azad left the rail at Etlaq Spaceport in Duqm, the booster dropped away, and the sustainer carried the vehicle to 10 km. Flight data from the climb was received at the control centre. The goal was to prove the vehicle, not to reach space.
UPPER STAGE
The upper stage carries a solid motor and sits below the nose cone and payload. After the booster separates, the sustainer ignites and continues the climb. On Karman-X1, it carried the vehicle to 10 km.
LOWER STAGE
The lower stage carries a solid motor, with fins at its base. It ignites while Azad is still on the rail and lifts the full stack clear. When its motor burns out, the booster separates and falls away.
THE PARTNERSHIP
Karman-X1 flew under Etlaq’s Formation programme, established in 2024 for suborbital and experimental launches. It was the second successful launch from the spaceport, after Duqm-1 in December 2024. Etlaq is supported by the National Space Programme of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.
“I am particularly proud of the team that worked side by side with our partners throughout all stages.”

THE RANGE
Azad launched from a mobile rail in the Duqm desert. Built in Singapore, flown from Oman.
